Vortex Lattice Depinning vs. Vortex Lattice Melting: a pinning-based explanation of the equilibrium magnetization jump

چکیده

In this communication we argue that the Vortex Lattice Melting scenario fails to explain several key experimental results published in the literature. From a careful analysis of these results we conclude that the Flux Line Lattice (FLL) does not melt along a materialand sample-dependent boundary Hj(T ) but the opposite, it de-couples from the superconducting matrix becoming more ordered. When the FLL depinning is sharp, the difference between the equilibrium magnetization Meq(T,H) of the pinned and unpinned FLL leads to the observed step-like change ∆Meq(T,H). We demonstrate that the experimentally obtained ∆Meq(T,H) can be well accounted for by a variation of the pinning efficiency of vortices along the Hj(T ) boundary.

Vortex-lattice dynamics with channeled pinning potential landscapes

We have studied vortex-lattice dynamics as a function of driving force direction, in superconducting Nb films with periodic pinning arrays of magnetic dots. Square and rectangular symmetry arrays define channels that guide the vortex-lattice motion. We investigated the effect of the driving force direction on the commensurability between the vortex-lattice and dots array. We also studied the tr...

Non equilibrium phase diagrams of current driven Josephson junction arrays

We present a review of our previous numerical studies on non equilibrium vortex dynamics in Josephson Junction arrays (JJA) driven by a dc current. Dynamical phase diagrams for different magnetic fields, current directions and varying temperature are discussed and compared. First, the effect of thermal fluctuations in a current driven diluted vortex lattice (VL) is analyzed. The case of f = 1/2...

Magnetization Jump in a Model for Flux Lattice Melting at Low Magnetic Fields

Using a frustrated XY model on a lattice with open-boundary conditions, we numerically study the magnetization change near a flux lattice melting transition at low fields. In both two and three dimensions, we find that the melting transition is followed at a higher temperature by the onset of large dissipation associated with the zero-field XY transition. It is characterized by the proliferatio...

Features of the melting dynamics of a vortex lattice in a high-Tc superconductor in the presence of pinning centers

The phase transition ‘‘triangular lattice–vortex liquid’’ in layered highTc superconductors in the presence of pinning centers is studied. A two-dimensional system of vortices simulating the superconducting layers in a high-Tc Shubnikov phase is calculated by the Monte Carlo method. It was found that in the presence of defects the melting of the vortex lattice proceeds in two stages: First, the...

Simulations of Dynamical Ordering in Pinned Vortex Systems

We model a vortex system in a sample with bulk pinning and superficial pinning generated by a magnetic decoration. We perform a sequence of finite temperature numerical experiments in which external forces are applied to obtain a dynamically ordered vortex lattice. We analyze the final structures and the behavior of the total energy of the system. The phase diagram of vortices in high temperatu...
